Each Uisge: The Water Horse

Each Uisge (also known as a Water Horse) is a beautiful and dangerous creature that dwells in the Scottish lochs (or lakes). As a shape shifter, it takes on the forms of different creatures - including a beautiful horse and young man - and lures innocent folk to their deaths by allowing them to pet it and climb onto its back. Its weed-ridden mane entangles the doomed person onto its back as it pelts at a breakneck speed into the depths of the loch where it devours them. Only their liver remains, washed ashore for some hapless passer-by to discover...

Each Uisge is crossing the surface of the loch in this illustration, showing his ethereal and unnatural qualities which would strike fear into the hearts of anyone passing by.
